Crabs, Shrimps and Lobsters
Crabs, Lobsters and other Crustaceans are related to other major groups of Arthropods (such as
insects and spiders) and share with them a number of characteristics, including jointed legs and
a hard outer skeleton. There are about 40,000 species of crustaceans including crabs, lobsters,
shrimps, and many other less familiar animals. With the exception of molluscs, crustaceans form
the largest and most diverse group of marine animals.
